Teardrop

Massive Attack's Teardrop is one of my favorite songs of all time. Released in 1998 with vocals by Elizabeth Fraser of The Cocteau Twins, na-hypnotize ako dito the first time I heard it even I was uncertain of what the lyrics mean.

The chilling rhythm and Fraser's vocals slowly permeate into your subconscious talagah until you have no choice but to submit to the easing serenity of the song. With a lot of versions made out of the orig Teardrop (see sidebar), and the meaning behind the lyrics, my affection with this song, goes deeper and deeper.

Love, love is a verb.
Love is a doing word.
Fearless on my breath.
Gentle impulsion.
Shakes me makes me lighter.
Fearless on my breath.

Teardrop on the fire.
Fearless on my breath.

Nine night of matter.
Black flowers blossom.
Fearless on my breath.
Black flowers blossom.
Fearless on my breath.

Teardrop on the fire.
Fearless on my breath.

Water is my eye.
Most faithful mirror.
Fearless on my breath.
Teardrop on the fire of a confession.
Fearless on my breath.
Most faithful mirror.
Fearless on my breath.

Teardrop on the fire.
Fearless on my breath.

Stumbling a little.
Stumbling a little.

I still cannot get the meaning of the lyrics completely. Can anyone help? Am not really good in interpreting metaphors kasi, or is it a metaphor nga ba? Does it speak of Life? Love? Libog? But am pretty sure its not about Kabaklaan, which I am good at sana. Chos! All I know is.....

A teardrop will do nothing to put out a fire.

Ikaw bading? Anong interpretation mo ditrek? Can you leave me a line that says it all? Help na kung help! Tse!
