The King Of Negros Reacts

Our post about Hari Ng Negros and your corresponding comments led the reigning Hari, Mark Xander Fabillar (The Vegan Prince) to write us and answer our speculations about him and the said male pageant search. Specifically those comments made by Mr. Schizophrenic and Bananas were riposted by Mark (Pictured... In fernalou, cute sya ha!).

Here are Mr. Schizo and Bananas' comments with his Majesty, Hari ng Negros 2006 Mark Xander's response:

Mark Xander replies....

To Mr. Schizophrenic: Your comments are quite demeaning. I have never POSED NUDE and don't have plans of ever doing so for the camera. I might do it for painting sessions (who knows?) but definitely not for the camera. My partner is also NOT a poet, by the way. He is a Palanca-winning writer and is known for his fiction.

I, too, am an advocate of free speech but I challenge anyone to post those nude pictures on the net if they really do exist. The screening process for Hari ng Negros is a very rigid one and contestants are even disqualified if they've participated in bikini opens in the past - how much more if they've posed nude?" I just had to clear my name because these comments are on the net and anyone CAN or MAY read them.

Bananas said...

"To bananas: I don't know exactly what you mean by that comment (my Tagalog is not very good) but I do hope I can meet you in the future so that you will get to know me before you judge me."

Hello, Lyka. This is the first time I've read this article and let me congratulate you for a job well done. :) I also want to say that the comments are very interesting. :)

Here's my three cents:

First things first. For the benefit of everybody, yes I am openly gay and have NEVER hidden that fact. (Laughs) Being gay does not mean having to wear a dress (although there's nothing wrong with that - diversity, anyone?) and the reason why I competed was because of the prodding of people who wanted me to stand up for all the gay men in the Negros.

Truth is, gay men are highly discriminated everywhere (especially in small, conservative regions like Negros) and someone just had to show these people that masculinity and "handsomeness" do not just apply to straight men. I was very hesitant to join at first because I was scared that I might get discriminated against but decided to do it for the sake of all the young gay/lesbian students in Negros. I wanted to show them that it is OKAY to be who they are and that they can still achieve whatever it is they wanted. I certainly DID NOT expect to win.

Secondly, yes, Ian is my partner and we've been together for four years now. He accompanied me in all of the rehearsals, functions, etc at the pageant. The organizers were aware of the situation. I even introduced him as my partner to my fellow contestants and they were FINE with it.

Guys, before I leave, I just wanted to say that I am NOT MAD and actually found the comments entertaining and fun. :) (Feeling ko tuloy ako si Tere Licaros who was also bashed heavily on her blog, lol!)

Wentworth, Closeta?

OMG! Bading ang Wentworth!

According to Tita Perez Hilton, 6 months na raw nagdi-date ang Wentworth Miller (pictured left) at Luke MacFarlane! Kalokah! Kakainggit!

Ang Luke naman na toh ay nakitang nakipag-date ke TR Knight before ang news na toh (pictured below). Bruha sya! Matinik sa mga sikat ang bading na to ha!

Masaya eto! Tatlong TV shows in one. Prison Break(Wentworth), Grey's Anatomy(TR) and Brothers and Sisters(Luke. Guest star nga lang sya doon). Remember Scotty? Sya yun!

Fast becoming a gay icon ha dahil sa Equus-inspired photos nya with Out Magazine and the swimwear L'Uomo Vogue pictorials. Si Totoy na maraming pera. Akin sya!

Si Letlet, friend namin. Bruha, Impakta, Bitch talaga. Kakatuwa. Kaka-aliw without even trying. In other words, Babaeng bakla. Eto ang unang hirit nya.

Ang Banat ni Letlet: The Necklace

Ang setting: Baby shower ng isang kaibigan nami na si Evangeline. Lahat ay nandoon. Kantahan dito, kwentuhan doon ng biglang pumasok ang late-comer na si Monica na kararating lang galing 'Pinas. Dramatic entrance ang gagah. Naka tube top eto, faded Se7en jeans with open-toe heels and with matching eye-catching necklace.

May katabaan dati itong si Monica kaya kapansin pansin ang pagbabago nito. Lahat ay napatingin. Stop ang kantahan, sayawan at kung ano pa. Pati si Letlet napasama sa crowd to greet Monica.

Halos lahat ay give comment para sa bagong Monica: "Pumayat ka na....", "Ang sexy mo na!". "Nag-lose weight ka nga ba? "

Pero si Letlet, iba ang hirit nya: "Talagang pumayat yan. Etong necklace na toh?" (Tinuro ang suot na kwintas ni Monica para makita ng lahat)..."dating choker yan!"!

LTE's At War

LTE is at War ngayon. Eto lang ang masasabi ko:

Stop believing what others have said about you; Stop believing how others have labeled you; Stop accepting how others have defined you... for its only you who knows about you, of how you feel, of who you really are... not even your closest friends.

Know your friends well. Be sensitive. Be supportive. Commend their strengths and recover them from their weaknesses. Never compare yourself with them. If you want to help, always put in mind that people cope differently. Understanding their situation is the first step of how to rescue a friend from drowning.

Dont expect too much from your very best friends. Dont assume that they know you fully. Dont consider them as family. Try to stand alone without them for when hard times set in and you need them... and when they disappoint you, its going to be very painful.

Dont forget to say "Sorry" even you didnt do wrong. The fact that you hurt your friend's feelings is enough reason to say the word.

In our opinion, Phelps' sex appeal is much stronger than Thorpe. He's seems more rough kasi. Tigasin ang dating. Parang bugbugin ka! Parang mas interesting sa kama compared ke Thorpe. (Thor-pe raw kasi ang Aussie. Ching!). Ke Phelps kami sa round na to.

We say Phelps again. Because he is younger siguro. Mas sunny ang outlook. Parang cool ang personality. Si Thorpe naman ay parang melancholic. Mukhang may tinatago. Parang di masiyahing tao. Opinion lang po. Kaya Michael, win ka na naman sa round na to.

Who has The Bum?

Hmmmm..... Mukhang malaman yung Thorpe. Pero di rin papatalo ang Phelps. Mukhang close ang fight sa round na to. Well, ang decision: Balita kasi namin na botomista nga raw yang si Thorpe, kaya napag-isipan namin na mas welcome tayo ke Aussie bum compared ke Phelps. Dahil dito... Ian, win ka sa round na toh.... by default!

Final Round: Butterfly

Do we need to explain pa ba kung anong klaseng round to? .....So, Kaninong Butterfly kayo mga bads? Mukhang mahaba nga ang butterly ng Phelps pero mukhang payat naman ito. Kulang siguro sa honey!.... Mas malusog naman yung ke Thorpe ha. Kaya, sa mas matambok kami. Win ang butterfly mo Ian! Paki-stroke nga!

Hari ng Negros 2007

Volcanic Dreams. Tribal Passion....... O di ba bongga? Na-attract tuloy aketch dahil sa slogan nila!

Hari Ng Negros is an annual Male Pageant event doon sa Island of Negros (of course, no! Saan pa nga ba? Sa Africa?). Started in 2003 and formerly known as Ginoong Canlaon, Hari ng Negros has become a big event with the likes of Patis Tesoro as part of the panel of judges and Fashion Television (ftv) covering the event.

Ina-abangan ng mga Negrense badafs, at ng mga talent scounts (kuno), siguradong papatok itets! Basing sa YouTube vids, mukhang cool naman ang pageant na tosh. Kaya papatulan natin. I heard its not all the faces and bodies lang, pa-bonggahan din raw ito sa Interview portion.

Minus the interview, heto ang predictions namin:

Hari ng Negros:
Mr Cadiz

Ewan ko ha. Pero etoh ang bet namin for the title. Pinoy na pinoy kasi ang dating. Ang cute ng smile ha. Parang bulkang Kanlaon, dormant pero mukhang sasabog anytime! Mukhang mabenta ditey. Kayumanggi at very raw. 9.9 points ang boy-next-door inosente drama mo kaya win ka sa amin!

1st Runner Up
Mr Bacolod

Sa katawan pa lang, panalo na! Di masyadong kaakit-akit ang fez pero pwede na. Dinala naman ng katawan eh. Best In Swimsuit sya! Mukhang pahihirapan ka sa kama nito like the hirap na dadanasin mo sa pag-akyat ang Mt. Kanlaon.

As rough as Mt Kanlaon itets. Bad Boy ang drama kaya pasok sa Top 5. Parang tambay na macho dyan sa kanto. Tunay na lalaki ang datetch! Malakas ang sex appeal. I am sure rough din sa banig eto. Pakisindi nga ng yosi, Pare!

Mr. Bago City

May fez sya infernalou. Kaya lang mukhang di masyadong tatagal ang mga muscles nito. Dahil sa fez mo, pasok ka sa Top 5! Like Miss Tanzania, magiging sikat ka sa kalbo effect mo! You truly represent the environmental aspect of Mt. Kanlaon... Kalbo! Ching!

Mr. Pulupandan

Uy... mukhang ka-federasyon natin etits ha! Makapal kasi ang Rico Yan foundation! Pero pasok ka pa rin sa Top 5 lola dahil sa charisma mo! Mukhang friendly ka kasi. I am sure Mr. Congeniality ka! Ikaw ang mga exotic bulaklak na kumakalat sa Mt. Kanlaon. Good luck sa yo. Isa-isahin mo silang mga fellow contestants mo! Ching!
